Ken is celebrating his birthday today and we both had a celebration on my birthday last week, October 30th. Our closest and long-time friends came over to celebrate with us. 🙂
I remember whenever we have a celebration like our birthdays, we always have wine, beer, and other alcoholic drinks available for our friends. Though we strongly agree that you don’t need alcohol to have fun, it’s been part of tradition in our circle of friends to drink the night away ‘cause it makes everyone more willing to grab the mic and sing along our videoke (yep, we have our own setup here! :D). We usually end up with beer, but our most recent discovery is sure to be enjoyed by our friends at our future parties – Benmore Scotch Whisky.
Most people may be taken aback that it’s Scotch whisky. But, after having tasted Benmore Scotch Whisky at their official bloggers launch weeks ago and at Orange Magazine TV’s relaunch party, it’s something I would personally would love to have more at our upcoming celebrations.
First off, let me share with you some facts about Scotch whisky. There are actually malt and grain whiskies. The Malt kind is distilled in a pot still using malted barley, while the grain whisky is distilled using a column still and made of malted and unmalted barley along with other grains like wheat or corn. Benmore Scotch Whisky is blended, meaning it’s a combination of both malt and grain whiskies so it’s not as strong since it contains 40% alcohol.
I actually prefer hard alcoholic drinks over beer, so when I first tried Benmore, I was pleased. It’s great to mix with iced tea or your choice of soda or juice. What I love about it is it doesn’t give you that strong alcoholic smell so those who are not fond of the reek of whisky or hard liquor on their drinks will find this appealing about Benmore Scotch Whisky. 🙂
Benmore Scotch Whisky is made by DIAGEO, the company behind popular brands such as Johnny Walker, J&B and Gilbey’s. But, the price is affordable, at Php 330.00 to 385.00 per 700ml bottle.
Every 700ml bottle can give you 22 shots that you can enjoy in any way you like – straight up, on the rocks, with water, iced tea, tonic or soda, or cola. I personally loved it with iced tea. Though it doesn’t smell too much of alcohol when you mix it, the spirit is there to get you drunk so make sure you don’t take too many shots of this, especially when you have an interview for a job (like for Quality Assurance Specialist Jobs or your dream job) or you’re going to work after for call center people).
I love their packaging and the bottle itself (oh yeah, it’s the hoarder / recycler in me talking :D).
They also have an upcoming website – www.benmorescotchwhisky.com. During their second bloggers night, they showed us a preview of their site. I love the color ‘cause it’s a combination of black, brown, gold and yellow. 🙂
And do you know who their brand ambassador is? Oh, none other than the gorgeous Borgy Manotoc. He was very personable and shared with us that Benmore Scotch Whisky is the only alcoholic drink he promotes because he genuinely enjoys drinking it himself. 🙂
So, on your next party, I suggest you try serving Benmore Scotch Whisky with your choice of iced tea or cola. I tell you, you’re going to enjoy it. But, please, drink moderately and responsibly. Never ever drink and drive. 🙂
Cheers! 🙂
Call me a purist but mixing whisky with anything else (except ice or a bit of water) is sacrilege… Just my two cents worth..
where can i buy benmore? thanks 🙂
