Wild Willy’s Real American Chicharrones – New Tasty Snack!

Here’s another great-tasting snack that we discovered. I know all of you would love it, too – Wild Willy’s Real American Chicharrones!

 

Wild Willy’s is the latest product from the company that gave us our all-time favorites Clover Chips, Cheezy and Nacho. So, when we discovered Wild Willy’s at the grocery and found out they’re from Leslie’s Snacks, we decided to try them out.

 

I was completely intrigued by the description on the package. It says “real American chicharrones” and that it’s “made with premium quality U.S. pork rinds“. I’m a chicharon lover, so, I was pretty excited to try this new snack. I was a bit skeptical at first because I thought it’ll just be plain chicharon that was just given a fancy packaging and all.

Well, guess what, I was surprised. Actually, all of us were surprised – Kien, Mai and both my parents enjoyed it so much! Definitely not your ordinary chicharon. We still had stock of Marty’s vegetarian chicharon, so, I got to compare it with this new snack – not as tasty as Wild Willy’s, trust me.

Wild Willy’s is available in 3 flavors – Traditional Salted, Natural Vinegar and Hot and Spicy. I only got to try the first 2 though. By the way, I love their packaging and the colors they used. It’s also very easy to open so you won’t need scissors or your mouth and teeth to open it up. *LOL*

 

The first we tried, of course, was the Traditional Salted variant. As soon as we opened it, the aroma of chicharon tickled our senses. I’m not kidding! It got us all excited so Mai immediately grabbed a piece. Her first reaction was “Sarap!” (Yum!). There’s something really different and good about it, but, I couldn’t put my finger on it ’til my brother said it’s a little sweet, which adds to the overall enjoyment of the snack. I guess it’s because the chicharrones were made from premium quality U.S. pork rinds, as it says in the package.

 

You can really taste and feel the difference between Wild Willy’s and the regular chicharon you can usually buy from balut vendors and at the grocery. The salted variant isn’t too salty. The taste / flavor is just right, and surprisingly light for my taste that it actually feels like it melts in my mouth. Don’t get me wrong, Wild Willy’s Chicharrones are very crunchy! Its texture is just so light and different from the usual chicharon we eat. My bro Kien even said “it doesn’t make you feel like you’re gobbling on something high-cholesterol”. Mai and I completely agree with him.

 

Wild Willy’s packaging says “Best tasting chicharrones in the West“. And, we couldn’t agree more. Even their Natural Vinegar variant was really flavorful. My parents enjoyed it, too, that they asked if they can have one whole pack to themselves ’cause they were watching a movie. They both love chicharon, too.

Another thing I love about Wild Willy’s is how much you get from their 90g pack. The chicharrones pieces are mostly bite-size, but, you’d get a lot of bigger pieces in there, too. The 90g pack is good for 3-4 persons. I say it’s perfect to pair with beer while singing videoke with friends. *LOL*

Wild Willy’s is already available in most grocery stores / supermarkets. We tried looking for it in Robinson’s grocery in Victory Mall, but, we didn’t find one. From what I heard, you can already find Wild Willy’s at Puregold, Landmark and Ever. We might try checking out Ever Commonwealth to buy this again.

 

Wild Willy’s 90g pack sells for Php 42.75. It’s also available in 50g packs which cost Php 25.50. But, prices may vary depending on where you’re buying them. For the price, I say it’s really worth it. I prefer buying the 90g packs ’cause Mai and I usually eat snacks while watching our favorite TV series after a long day at our internet cafe.
