My bro Ken and I are both pastry lovers. He particularly loves cakes and baking them. I love different kinds of pastries, most especially cookies and have been planning on learning how to bake myself. That’s why when Rae of The Cookie Jar sent us these goodies, we were both excited to try them.
By the way, my bro and I love their packaging. The box, jar and tin can can be easily recycled. Kudos for that! They also used earthy tones of colors, which makes the packing more elegant. Perfect for gifts!
You might be wondering what makes The Cookie Jar different from other cookie or pastry shops. They are aiming to make baking cookies easy for newbie bakers with their jars of ingredients mix.
We got this jar of ingredients for Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies. You can see the stack of flour, sugar, oats, and semi-sweet chocolate chips from this clear jar. No need to worry about measurements.
At the back of the gift tag that comes with each jar, you’d see baking instructions. All you need to add with the mix of ingredients are butter, vanilla and 2 eggs.
We haven’t baked the cookies yet, but will write a separate post for that. We’re saving it for a pick-me-up get-together with a friend next week. π
Now, if you don’t have an oven, you’re not that confident with you baking or you simply prefer already baked cookies, you can also buy these cans of cookies.
We received a can of The Cookie Jar’s Homemade Triple Chocolate Cookies. Each can contains 10 cookies, by the way.
As soon as I took a bite of the cookie, I was delighted with the chunky bits of white and semi-sweet chocolates. The cookies were also chewy, which I love, love, love.
Ken commented that it’s pretty obvious that they didn’t skimp with the ingredients. So, with that said, the price of Php 155.00 for a can of 10 cookies is very reasonable, if you ask us.
Plus, just look at how thick the cookies are. It has the right amount of sweetness. I love the combination of the semi-sweet and white chocolates too. My bro, who’s into baking pastries, said the cookies were even perfectly baked. π
These are the prices and available mixes and cookies that you can avail from The Cookie Jar:
Note: Cookie mixes make 24-30 cookies.
- Cranberry Walnut
- mix: Php 260
- homemade: Php 195
- These mixes / cookie variants are priced at Php 220 for the mix and Php 155 for the already-baked cookies:
- Chocolate Chip
- Crispy Chocolate
- Oatmeal Chocolate Chip
- Triple Chocolate
We also received this box of six (6) French Macarons from The Cookie Jar. I was looking forward to tasting them after that Pavlova from Banchetto.
French Macaron is a sweet confectionery made of egg whites, sugar, almond powder filled with buttercream or ganache in between.
We got 3 flavors inside the box – Red Velvet, Chocolate, and Pistachio.
First, we tried the Red Velvet. It’s soft and chewy, with a lot of creaminess in the middle. We really tasted the almond mixed into the macaron. This one has a hint of saltiness, too.
Next is the Chocolate Macarons. We enjoyed the surprise of the bitter-sweet taste. The ones we got also had some crunch to it when I took my first bite. The middle is very chewy though.
Last is the Pistachio Macarons. I honestly don’t like nuts mixed into anything, but this one, I enjoyed. My bro can’t stop raving about it. π As soon as you bite into it, you’d get that burst of pistachio flavors in your mouth that’s sure to linger. Good thing we tried it last. π
The Cookie Jar sells these French Macarons in 2 packaging options:
– Box of 8 – Php 225
– Box of 20 – Php 520
*They also have prices for bulk orders.
Other available flavors are Carrot Cake, Lemon, and Vanilla Buttercream.
We highly recommend you try these The Cookie JarΓ’β¬β’s yummy treats. They also have Lemon Cream Cheese Bars, Dulce de Leche Brownies and Chunky Walnut Bars that we canΓ’β¬β’t wait to try.
