Beat the Heat with Dairy Queen Blizzards

by | May 19, 2011 | 17 comments

Can you believe how hot it’s been this summer?! I can’t stay anywhere without an electric fan or the AC cooling me down. And even when we have a water dispenser that provides us cold water everytime, I always have to add ice to it. I just can’t take the heat!

That’s why a few weeks ago when Kenneth and I were at Glorietta in Makati, we both had this craving for Dairy Queen’s Blizzard. He’s a li’l addicted to to their Caramel Cashew flavor.

The Dairy Queen store at Glorietta 4 is just across the cinemas, beside Timezone.

Of course, my bro ordered the usual. He urged me to try their new flavor, Dairy Queen’s Mango Cheesecake Blizzard.

They have a ton of other Blizzard flavors including Banana Split, Double Dutch, Brownie Temptation (ooohh, too sinful!), Chocolate Truffle and Strawberry Cheesecake.

You can also add extra toppings to your Blizzard, Just add Php 29 and you can choose from caramel fudge, Butterfinger, Kitkat, etc.

Ohh, I gotta try their waffle sandwiches next time, too. Reminds me of Tivoli Funwich that I got so addicted to back when I was a kid. ^_^

Cup sizes for Dairy Queen's Blizzard - it should be served upside down or it's free - CertifiedFoodies.com

There are 4 sizes of Blizzard serving cups to choose from. Since we were really craving for something sweet and cold, we thought, the heck with it, and just ordered 16-oz… EACH! 😀

This is why we came up with our food trip #1 rule – if we’re craving for something sinful, we should only order one serving and we just share it between the 2 of us, no matter what. That way, we still get our craving satisfied without overeating.

Anyway, supposedly, the Blizzard should be served upside down. But, since it was really warm inside the mall ’cause of the heat outside coming in from the nearby exit to the smoking area, we didn’t bother looking. We can see the ice cream already starting to melt and we wanted to go already. 😀

I can completely understand why my bro loves the Caramel Cashew Blizzard. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t like nuts mixed into anything, especially ice cream. But, the combination of caramel and cashews is just delightfully good! 🙂

Here’s a closer look at my Mango Cheesecake Blizzard. It’s a bit too sweet for my taste, which is why, I guess, I barely tasted the cheesecake bits. But, it’s still good, really creamy. I love the mango flavor.

We both couldn’t finish the whole 16-oz servings of Dairy Queen ice cream. Yeah, what a waste. We’ll make sure that won’t happen again next time.

Anyway, I’m hoping to get to try Dairy Queen’s ice cream cakes next time. I saw this poster of their Mango Cheesecake ice cream cake. Two things I love in one delightful dessert! Maybe when the weather’s not that hot anymore.  And it’s quite expensive so I’d probably just do it for a very special occasion. 🙂

Dairy Queen also have other products like their Moolatte, Smoothies and Citrus Coolers. Might try them soon.

How about you? Which Dairy Queen product have you tried and usually crave for?

Went to a dairy queen in Seneca Missouri. They did NOT serve my blizzard upside down. I was told since it was individually owned(and the owner was called) they could not refund my money or give me a new blizzard since the one that I was given would have fell on the floor anyway. Highly pissed at dairy queen and the lie that its slogan says…Served upside down or its free…thinking about getting a lawyer. False advertisement
