A few weeks ago, we were part of the first ever Blogapalooza, a project conceptualized by Vince Golangco of When in Manila and his friend Francis. Their goal was to provide a venue for businesses to connect with bloggers directly. At the event, each of the 50 brands was given their own time to pitch their products or services and gave us free samples and ways to try what they have to offer in the hopes of piquing our interest to write about them. One of the brands featured was Farmer John’s Premium Potato Chips. And after I got a taste at home, I just had to blog about them.
Farmer John Premium Potato Chips are products of Leslie’s Corporation, a well-known snacks company here in the Philippines. We actually featured one of their offerings before, Wild Willy’s Chicharrones, which we also loved. So, we had high expectations of this new product from them, especially after hearing their claims that these chips are made of farm-fresh (imported) Atlantic potatoes.
They are prepared right after they’re harvested to ensure freshness. They even have a Guarantee of Freshness seal at the back of the package saying that if you’re not satisfied with the freshness of the contents, they’ll replace them for free.
We got 4 variants of Farmer John Premium Potato Chips in our Blogapalooza goodie bags. They come in plain chips (Simply Salted and Mesquite BBQ) and wavy (Cheddar and Sour Cream and BBQ Sausage). They were very generous so I was pretty happy about that. 🙂
Ken and I were scouring the web to research on my next gadget purchase (I’m considering buying any of the newToshiba netbooksmodels to replace my old) when we first tried the Farmer John Cheddar and Sour Cream potato chips. We got 2 each and let’s say we didn’t want to share even a piece. I didn’t even get to take a photo of them for this post! 😀 The mix of the saltiness of the cheese and the sour cream flavor kept us wanting more after every chip. 🙂
The next variant I got to try was the BBQ Sausage. As soon as I opened the pack, the aroma tickled my senses that I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Oh my goshhh!” (yeah, that’s my favorite expression 😀 Don’t judge. :P).
When I took a BBQ Sausage flavored potato chip in my mouth, I was at first overwhelmed by the intense flavor. But, as I savored it, my taste buds started to appreciate how good it was. The smokiness of the barbecue flavor was complemented by the crunch of each chip, definitely proving that they’re not your ordinary potato chips. 🙂
Next, I tried the Farmer John Mesquite BBQ flavor. It was sweet with hints of sourness and saltiness in every crunch. It was a comforting mix of flavors. 🙂
I also loved their Simply Salted potato chips. Actually, I loved all the flavors! Writing about them now and looking at the photos made me drool… literally. That’s how much I enjoyed all of them. I think my nanay only got to taste one ’cause Ken and I hogged almost all of them. 😀
If you haven’t tried Farmer John Premium Potato Chips yet, I highly recommend you grab a pack or two next time you’re in the grocery. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them as much as we did. Partner them with your favorite soda (I prefer A&W Rootbeer!) for maximum enjoyment! 🙂
Cheddar and Sour Cream sounds good! I’ll be looking for this in the grocery, plus a couple of cans of A&W rootbeer and a pint of vanilla ice cream to make a float. Yum! 🙂
Waaahhhhhh there was no A&W rootbeer at Robinsons Supermarket in Ortigas :((
