After what we would consider a brief period of delighting us with their high quality ice cream, Häagen-Dazs is closing operations in the Philippines. They have made this announcement official on their website and on their Facebook page.
We’ve only had Haagen-Dazs ice cream twice – once at the Haagen-Dazs store in SM Mall of Asia and the last time was when we bought their ice cream bars at a grocery store. Though we absolutely love their ice cream, we find it too pricey for us, even on those days when we desperately need a creamy pick-me-up.
And we believe this is the reason why they’re closing their stores here. Pinoys are not keen towards buying ice cream at Haagen-Dazs’ price range when they can be satisfied with a more affordable alternative, like Magnum ice cream that only costs Php 50, or frozen products from Magnolia, Selecta, Nestle and the Korean ice cream brands ( watch out for our upcoming ice cream series 🙂 ). This is sad news for those who love Haagen-Dazs ice cream. But, I bet we can still buy their ice cream from S&R.
Haagen-Dazs stores in SM Mall of Asia and Robinsons Mall (Ermita)Â are closing after June 30, 2012. Their Shangri-la Plaza Mall and Eastwood Mall branches will stop operations by August 31, 2012. So, if you want to give them a proper adieu by treating yourself to their ice cream, take note of these dates.

I hope someone can give us updates on which stores actually sell the Stickbar, Minicup and Crispy Sandwich at Php 100. But, I do hope Häagen-Dazs takes care of this problem since they’ve made the announcement last week. Their purpose for these promos is to bid farewell in a good note, right?

What are your thoughts about Haagen-Dazs closing here in the Philippines? Are you going to miss them? Or it’s not a big deal to you too? Sound off at the comments section!
I love this ice cream <3
so sad. i havent visit their shop yet and then they are for closure now.. 🙁
You can still buy their ice cream naman from stores like S&R. Sad, but I don’t see them making any profits here talaga.
This is really sad. Haagen Dazs is pricey for me too, but I’ll definitely miss saving up for an afternoon treat at their SM MOA store.. 🙁
In my last post about them, I was planning on going back pa sana for their other offerings. Oh well… we can still buy the ice cream naman from S&R for sure. 🙂
A sad day for ice cream lovers 🙁
really, they are too pricey. only for the A/B market. haven’t tasted Haagen-Dazs there, dito ko n lang natikman yan e. But actually I can’t really find anything special about them. or di lang talaga ako ma-scrutinize when it comes to food.
We had the same thoughts before we tried their ice cream – na it’s just an overpriced ice cream. But, the quality of their ice cream is iba talaga. And they don’t melt as quickly as any ice cream we’ve had.
Let’s have a brief moment of silence for all Haagen Dazs ice cream lovers. This is sad, almost the same with what happened to Baskin and Robbins years ago. Had the chance to get a free scoop at their MOA branch.
Sad, really. I hope this won’t affect the prices of their ice cream in S&R.
I didn’t know Baskin and Robbins also came to the PH.
Omg! I haven’t used my Haagen Dazs gc! I’m going there tom. Thanks for the info!
You’re welcome! Their Shangri-la Mall and Eastwood Mall branches are open til end of August.
Im am super super super super sad reading this,, Im am sooooooooooo sad 🙁
Awww…. you can still buy their ice cream from S&R for sure.
oh this is soo sad. i love haagen dazs :c but yeah, i dont visit them often too because theyre too pricey.
I think Filipinos find it too price, plus there are alot of local stores that offer healthier options.. This is sad.. but, on a business perspective, that’s a good decision..
