Cucina Andare : First Food Truck Market in the Philippines!

From all my watching of American TV shows about food (Top Chef, No Reservations, Master Chef, etc), I learned the big part food trucks play in the food culture of Americans. It was something Ken and I believed would definitely suit us here in the Philippines considering we already love street food, food carts, and Jolly Jeeps πŸ˜‰ . So, when we heard about Cucina Andare, the first food truck market in the Philippines, we got all excited!

Cucina Andare in Gloriette Open Park in Makati

Cucina Andare will finally be open tomorrow, December 14, 2012, and it’s located at the Glorietta Open Park (front of Glorietta 3, Landmark, Makati Shangri-La Hotel and 6750 Ayala Ave). It’ll be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 4pm to 3am, which is just perfect for my erratic schedule. I can’t wait to go during our 1-week holiday vacation! πŸ™‚

This food truck market was also organized by the same foodies who brought us Mercato Centrale in Taguig, particularly Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet. Here are quotes from their press release:

CUCINA ANDARE brings together specialty and gourmet food trucks, your favorite Mercato Centrale vendors and new and innovative food, drink and pastry vendors from home-based food businesses from around Makati!

“The food truck is a staple in the American foodie scene!” shared Anton Diaz, co-organizer of Cucina Andare and the popular food and travel blogger behind www.OurAwesomePlanet.com. “There are now popular gourmet food trucks in San Francisco, New York and Australia, and people follow them wherever they go! We believe itÒ€ℒs right about time that food trucks make their debut in the Philippine foodie scene!”

“We are also excited to bring our food truck market to Glorietta as we celebrate their grand re-launch!Ò€ added RJ Ledesma, the other co-organizer of Cucina Andare. “In fact, we will be launching the Food Truck Association of the Philippines during the opening of the market. We strongly encourage more food trucks and food vendors to join the market with their own unique dishes!”

On top of the great food choices, Cucina Andare visitors can enjoy live acoustic performances in a family-friendly environment.

Some of the food purveyors who’ll be there are Mio Gelati, Brother’s Burger, Carlo’s Kitchen, Big Bob’s, Taclings, ManilaQ (famous for their Bagwang), Guacktruck, Cuisiniers, Casa Goni, Macheesemo (love the word play), Shawarma Bros, Chef Resty and more.

I’m excited to see how the first Philippine food truck market would be like. We were hoping to go to the opening tomorrow, but work got in the way. πŸ˜€ Hopefully, they’ll be open right before New Year.

I’m sure we can expect Cucina Andare to be buzzing with foodies when they finally open tomorrow, especially because they’re located in Glorietta.

See you at Cucina Andare!
