SARSA : Gourmet Sauces for Quick and Delicious Meals at Home

When it comes to home-cooked meals, we’ve got very high standards because of an excellent cook at home – our nanay. She can whip up sumptuousร‚ย dishes from scratch without any need for a recipe guide, and just flavoring each dish from taste. We’re THAT lucky and blessed as kids. ๐Ÿ™‚

Easy homemade dishes with SARSA gourmet sauces

Enjoying her home-cooked meals has been one of the many highlights of our childhood. For us, it’s of utmost importance that families enjoy a home-cooked lunch or dinner from time to time. And if you don’t have the know-how to prepare delectable meals at home, no worries. We discovered delicious, ready-made sauces you can use that will make cooking at home less of a hassle. We’re talking about SARSA Gourmet Sauces by Chef Eugene Catipon.

We were sent three (3) samples of SARSA’s gourmet sauces to try at home. We were delighted to see the ones we received: Beef Stew, Korma (curry) and Kare-kare. We were expecting to be disappointed by the latter since our nanay prepares a killer Kare-Kare, but we were pleasantly surprised.

SARSA offers a wide range of packed gourmet sauce products prepared personally by Chef Eugene Catipon. They guarantee that these sauces were made of high quality ingredients, with no artificial preservatives and flavoring, and no MSG. Of course, we were excited to try them all.

First, we were advised to make sure to keep the sauces frozen. We decided to make two dishes right away, so, as instructed on the packaging, we thawed the packed sauces in water for about 30 minutes. The instructions also included shaking the package well before opening and using the contents.

We proceeded (when I say we, I meant our nanay, and I was busy taking photos ๐Ÿ˜€ ) to prepare the first dish using SARSA Korma gourmet sauce. Korma is an Indian curry dish that’s creamy and spicy (no, not hot, but made with various spices).

SARSA, obviously, only includes the sauce that’ll mainly give flavor to your dish, so you need to prepare the other ingredients needed. Don’t worry, the list is alll nicely laid out for you on the packaging, as you can see below. Take note that you’re not supposed to prepare the ones listed under Ingredients, since those are the ones they used for the sauce itself. Read the Serving Suggestions instead to find out what other ingredients you need to make the dish.

Gourmet Sarsa Korma

For the Korma recipe, we used 1.5kg of chicken, which our nanay sauteed first with onions and garlic.

She prepared the other ingredients, including the carrots, potatoes, and onion leeks. We skipped the cauliflower. Take note that you must add the tougher ingredients (carrots and potatoes) a few minutes before the dish is fully cooked so they wonรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt be soggy.

After simmering for about 10 minutes, VOILA! A Chicken Korma dish in less than 30 minutes! ๐Ÿ™‚

How was it? For a big fan of curry dishes, I enjoyed this so much. ๐Ÿ™‚ Among the 3 though, my favorite was the SARSA Beef Stew gourmet sauce.

Here are the instructions for that dish and SARSA Kare-kare gourmet sauce:

We made the Kare-kare after a few days, and, to our glee, it was quite tasty as well. Very close to our nanay’s kare-kare recipe. ๐Ÿ™‚

You can use these sauces with other proteins: seafood, chicken, beef or pork. You can skip other ingredients listed too, since the sauces themselves are already flavorful.

Feel free to add salt and pepper to your liking, or water/stock to get to the consistency and flavors you like. ๐Ÿ™‚

Needless to say, we highly recommend you try these SARSA gourmet sauces. From what I’ve read on their Facebook page, they have deliveries in certain Quezon City and San Juan areas (they were kind enough to deliver here in Malabon) with a minimum purchase of Php 600. They also sell this, I believe, at the North Greenhills Sunday Market.

Here’s the SARSA gourmet sauce price list and their other products. For a dish big enough to serve 4-6 people, I say the prices are fair since they’ll save you time in preparing and worrying about making the sauces. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Awesome review and awesome blog by the way. I’ve been following this blog for almost a month now and only decided to comment now. Living in the US, one can only imagine how yummy this “Sarsa” is especially, knowing that it does not come with a ton of preservatives which many of the “filipino favorite seasonings” here have. Wish I can grab a few and take it with me to the US without it spoiling.

    1. Awww thank you, Obei… and thanks for finally leaving comments. ๐Ÿ™‚

I understand how you feel. I wish these could be shipped out too without spoiling – the price we pay for its lack of preservatives. ๐Ÿ˜‰
