Parvati : Your One Stop Desserts Shop

When Ken and I thought of coming up with a monthly theme for our blog, the first thing that came to mind is desserts month. And the first store we wanted to visit was, of course, Parvati in Trinoma, a one-stop desserts shop.

Parvati a pastry shop in Trinoma

With the growing number of home bakers in the country today (oh we can’t be thankful enough! :D), getting their products out there can be a challenge considering the logistics of opening their own store. This is where Parvati comes in, providing a venue for talented pastry makers to showcase their homemade creations in one roof.

It was August last year when we first went to Parvati at the Mindanao lobby of Trinoma (I know, this is a very late post that has been sitting in the drafts folder for months). Upon walking in, we were welcomed with a smile and were directed to check their selections of pastries posted on this line of chillers / refrigerators located at one corner of the store. We were in dessert heaven! 😀

Based on the information on their Facebook page, Parvati features 40 best-selling desserts from 27 different home bakers. They have various cakes, cookies, cheesecakes (love, love, love), revel bars, pudding, cupcakes, pies, brownies, etc. If you’ve got a sweet tooth like we do, I tell yah, you’d probably spend a long time choosing what to order. We wanted to try everything, but we know we HAD to limit ourselves to just three. 😀

I Love Red Mango Frozen Yogurt!

One of the things that I’m absolutely addicted to nowadays is frozen yogurt. I’m addicted to the regular yogurt, too, but, enjoying a cup or tub of froyo can really freshen up my mood. I mean, it’s healthful and really yummy! So, I now opt to having frozen yogurt over ice cream anytime!

So far, I’ve only tried frozen yogurt being offered by 3 stores – Red Mango, The White Hat, and Yoh-Gurt. All I can say is I enjoyed all of them, but, I love the first 2 more.

Last time we were at SM Mall of Asia, Mai and I headed out to Red Mango to try out their frozen yogurt. I told Mai that I HAVE TO try all the frozen yogurt stores in MOA because I want to compare them to know which store offers the best frozen yogurt in town. And, I’m happy to say that Red Mango did not disappoint.

  2. In a saucepan, combine whole milk, heavy cream, and the rest of the sugar.
  3. Add vanilla bean, by cutting it vertically in half, then extracting the seeds.
(I actually skipped this step since we don’t have this available at home.)

When it starts to boil, add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  5. Temper the eggs by adding the heated cream to eggs while whisking it to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
  6. Place the pot back on the stove for 10 minutes, whisking the mixture continuously.
  7. Strain out the vanilla seeds unto a bowl sitting in a bath of ice water until totally chilled. Then, put in your ice cream maker, follow manufacturer instruction.
