Magnum White Chocolate Almond - with white Belgian chocolate coating with almond pieces, and vanilla ice cream inside

We already fell in love with all the flavors of Magnum. Ken and I can’t get enough of Magnum Almond. I was speechless on my first taste of the Magnum Gold. Our nanay’s favorite would have to be the Magnum Classic. See, there’s a Magnum flavor for everyone. 🙂

Now, white chocolate lovers would definitely revel in this newest Belgian chocolate creation from Magnum. They revealed this flavor last September 30, and if you’re like us who can’t wait to get a first taste of this indulgent Magnum White Chocolate Almond, you’ll be delighted to know that they’re taking over the malls around the metro on Sunday, October 4. #CelebrateWhite as you take a bite into this new Magnum ice cream flavor, along with your favorite Magnum ambassadors and dance to the beats of the hottest DJs in town. Follow @MagnumCelebrateWhite on Instagram to know more about this party!

Gelatissimo : My First Gelato Experience

Yes, it’s my first time enjoying a cup of gelato. And all I can say is I don’t think I’m going back to eating plain ice cream very soon. Thanks to Gelatissimo Cafe at Trinoma!

If you’re not yet familiar what gelato is, it’s actually Italy’s variant of ice cream. It’s mostly made up of the same ingredients as other frozen dairy desserts, but the difference is how it’s frozen. Also, gelato is known to have less butterfat and sugar contents. I guess that’s why it became an instant hit here in the Philippines.

Kien and I desperately wanted to try gelato after reading  “Eat, Pray, Love”. Since we were scheduled to watch The Social Network at Trinoma, we decided to head out to Gelatissimo.

Bake & Churn Ice Cream Cakes : My New Favorite!

I love ice cream and I love cakes. And these 2 combined is just heavenly! The first time I’ve had a slice of ice cream cake was back in Cebu. Since then, I was looking forward to the next time I’ll enjoy another slice of its yumminess. I know of Dairy Queen‘s ice cream cakes, but, I was looking for a more affordable alternative. And, thank goodness for Bake & Churn Ice Cream Cakes!

Last time we went grocery-shopping at Malabon Citisquare, I was surprised to see that Bake & Churn has their own stall inside the grocery. I actually had a pint of my favorite Vanilla ice cream in my grocery cart, but, I immediately changed my mind and decided to try one of Bake & Churn’s ice cream cakes.

Bake & Churn offers a wide range of choices of ice cream cakes. I was a bit skeptical if I’m going to like it, so, I picked the safest choice – the chocolate ice cream cake! Just look at their other flavors.

You can opt to buy a slice or a whole ice cream cake. The prices are very reasonable and affordable, if you ask me. You can try a slice of their cake for Php 40-50. I chose to buy a whole Bake & Churn’s Classic Ice Cream Log for only Php 199.00. Nice, eh?

How to Make Ice Cream Without a Machine

Who doesn’t love ice cream? Eating ice cream takes me to a place that makes me feel like a child again. It’s like the perfect way to beat the heat or end each meal with.

A few days ago, I was craving for something really cold and sweet. I thankfully came upon this video. I thought it was really easy to do, so, I’m sharing this so you can make your own French Vanilla ice cream at home.

Note: If you don’t have an ice cream maker, please scroll down to the next part where I share with you how you can make homemade ice cream using plastic bags.

Homemade French Vanilla Ice Cream

homemade French Vanilla Ice Cream ingredients - CertifiedFoodies.com

INGREDIENTS:

  • 8 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 2 tsp quality vanilla extract

PROCEDURE:

Custard

  1. Combine eggyolks and about half of the 3/4 sugar, then whisk tog ether.
  2. In a saucepan, combine whole milk, heavy cream, and the rest of the sugar.
  3. Add vanilla bean, by cutting it vertically in half, then extracting the seeds.
(I actually skipped this step since we don’t have this available at home.)
  4. Heat the cream over medium heat flame.
When it starts to boil, add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  5. Temper the eggs by adding the heated cream to eggs while whisking it to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
  6. Place the pot back on the stove for 10 minutes, whisking the mixture continuously.
  7. Strain out the vanilla seeds unto a bowl sitting in a bath of ice water until totally chilled. Then, put in your ice cream maker, follow manufacturer instruction.

For those without an ice cream maker like me, I found this very helpful technique through the internet.

Do you know that you can make ice cream using plastic bags?! Here’s the video instruction on how to do it:
